Sylvia Chemonges, Kenya

Sylvia Chemonges is a graduate Chemical and Process Engineer with almost 5 years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, Compressed Air Systems and Waste Management. The latter experience in Waste management is the area of most interest and what I am currently pursuing. On the waste management front, I am currently working on using insects to treat organic waste and the protein generated by the insects feeds animals such as pigs, chicken and fish.

Bunibo is a company dealing with Waste management through feeding organic waste to Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae and using the larvae as protein sources for animals. Creating sustainable cities and communities. Through BSF farming we use organic waste to providing farmers with a sustainable source of protein. Clean Sanitation. Since our main inputs as feed is organic waste from markets, residential homes and other institutions, we ensure that the waste will not be poorly discarded resulting in poor sanitation due to decomposing food and gases released. Climate Action. We reuse organic waste that would otherwise be dumped and left to decompose releasing methane which has an even bigger impact on global warming. Decent work and Economic growth. We are working towards scaling up production and provide employment to more than 20 people. Our focus being youth and women. No poverty. Through creating employment we hope to improve more peoples lives economically and lift them from poverty.
