Can you tell me a bit more about WYSE?

WYSE has been running International Leadership programmes for over 20 years with participants coming from 109 different countries around the world.
The WYSE International Leadership Programmes is a 12-day intensive training programme, where participants from many different cultures, religions and socio-economic backgrounds come together to form an international learning community. The programme is for people who care about what’s happening in the world and are willing to do what they can to make a positive difference.
Participants report that the programme is a time of self-exploration, gaining life-long skills, building community, raising awareness of global issues, and making deep connections with like-minded people from all around the world.

What can I expect the ILP to be like?

This is not your “normal” type of leadership programme. This is not the sort of programme where people will be lecturing or telling people what they should think. The way we approach the programme is to use as many different educational methods as possible. We’ll be encouraging participants to use different modalities, try out different ways of learning, access resources that may not normally be used, and learn from each other as much as learning from the formal side of the programme.
We also are mindful that we are working with a very diverse group of people from all over the word, so we need to use different methods of learning in order to find a language and variety of methods to meet many people’s needs.

Who will be on the staff team?

Hundreds of volunteers that generously give their time and skills to expand the work of WYSE. Dedicated Trainers, staff, and helpers, have volunteered their services for all our activities not only the programmes that we run. These volunteers have experience in various fields such as executive coaching, consulting, team and leadership development and many more areas. Please have a look at the Faculty page for more information

Are bursaries available for the ILP?

WYSE has a small bursary fund to support outstanding participants from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend our programmes. Scholarships are for programme fees only.
We only have part scholarships available (no full scholarships are available as our main aim is to help as many attendees as possible). We cannot fund travel costs.
The application process is competitive and making an application does not guarantee support. The final decision will be made by our scholarship committee that is made of WYSE educators and alumni. All decisions made by the scholarships committee will be final.

How do I pay?

Payment details can be found here.

How do I get to the venue?

This depends on the programme you are attending. Travel information about the Villa Boccella, where many of the ILPs are held can be found here.

I need a visa to enter Italy. Will WYSE help me?

Yes, as soon as we have received your deposit, we will put you in touch with our VISA OFFICE based in Italy.

What do I  need to take with me to the ILP?

You will be sent a handbook about a month before the programme with a list of what you need.

What to expect after the programme?

During the programme all participants have 6 individual coaching sessions (approximately 1 hour long) with a trained Coach as part of the Alumni Coaching Programme. After the programme, everyone can enrol into the Alumni Coaching Programme (ACP), which is a six month programme of coaching and support to achieve their goals and deliver their action plan for the benefit of their local communities when they return home. More will be explained during the programme.

How is the ILP evaluated?

WYSE carries out extensive evaluation of the running of the programme and all participants are asked to complete a detailed feedback form. This enables us to continually improve and develop as an organisation.
